Working in Taverham
We are in Taverham most weeks. It is a straight run out on the A1067, so it is one of the few places outside the ring road we will still take a genuine emergency in the middle of the night.
The housing is mostly detached and semi-detached family homes and bungalows from the seventies onwards, with Thorpe Marriott added through the eighties and nineties. Nearly all of it is on mains gas, and much of it is now on its second or third boiler.
Where we get called

- Taverham Mill and the Wensum valley
- Sandy Lane and Fir Covert Road
- Taverham High School

What goes wrong in Taverham
The housing here has its own habits. These are the jobs we get called to most.
Boilers at end of life, all at once
A street built in 1988 tends to need new boilers in the same few years. If yours is a 15-year-old combi making new noises, you are not imagining it and your neighbours are having the same conversation.
Early plastic push-fit
A lot of the nineties builds were first-fixed in early plastic. It is fine until it is disturbed — lifting a floor for a bathroom often means replacing more pipe than you planned.
Bungalow airing cupboards
Plenty of the bungalows still run a vented cylinder and a cold tank in the loft. Converting to a combi frees up the cupboard but needs the incoming main checking first — not every street here has the flow rate for it.

I had first class service from Archie at AK Plumbing and Heating for my recent shower emergency and have no hesitation in recommending this company
