New boilers and combi swaps in Norwich
A new boiler is a written fixed price before anything is ripped out, and a straight answer about whether you need one at all. Sometimes the honest answer is that a repair will see you through another winter

What we get called out to
The faults that make up most of the work, and what usually causes them
Repair bills adding up
Two failures in a year on a boiler past twelve is usually the system telling you something
Parts no longer available
Once the manufacturer stops supporting a model, the next fault is the last one
Back boiler or old floor standing unit
Common in Norwich terraces and postwar estates. Replacing one is a bigger job than a combi swap and the price should say so upfront
Adding a bathroom or an en suite
More outlets than the boiler was sized for is the usual cause of a shower that dies when someone runs a tap
Coming off oil, or staying on it
Worth a proper conversation off the mains gas grid rather than assuming gas is the answer
Hot water that runs out
Sometimes the cylinder rather than the boiler. An unvented swap is often the cheaper fix
What does a new boiler cost?
You get a written fixed price after a survey, and the survey is free. The price covers the boiler, the fitting, the controls, making good and taking the old one away — there is no separate list of extras that appears at the end
A like-for-like combi swap is the cheapest job and usually one day. Moving the boiler, converting from a back boiler or a system boiler, or upgrading the cylinder all cost more, and the survey is where that gets settled rather than halfway through the work
If we think a repair is the better value, we will tell you. Selling somebody a boiler they did not need is a short way to run out of neighbours in Norfolk
Who carries out the gas work?
Gas boiler work is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, who certifies it under their own registration number and registers the warranty in your name
The system side is done in-house — pipework, controls, cylinders, the flush and the making good. AK Plumbing and Heating is G3 qualified for unvented hot water cylinders
How long does it take?
A like-for-like combi swap is usually a single day, and you have heating and hot water again that evening. Dust sheets go down, the old boiler goes with us, and the job is left clean
Converting from a back boiler, moving the boiler to another wall or changing the cylinder is two to three days. The survey tells you which of those you are having before you commit to anything
