Radiators too small for the room
Very common where an extension went on and the radiator did not change. Sizing is the whole job
Adding a bathroom or an extension
New circuit, new sizing, and a check the existing system can carry it before anything gets plumbed in
Hot water running out
A cylinder that is too small or a vented tank on its last legs. An unvented swap usually fixes both
Microbore pipework
Common in Norwich estates from the seventies. It restricts flow and blocks easily, and it is worth knowing before you upgrade anything else
Solid wall cottages that never get warm
Half of north Norfolk. Sizing matters far more than boiler output, and oversizing the boiler fixes nothing
Underfloor in a new build
Manifolds, actuators and zoning that were rushed on handover and never balanced properly
What does a heating installation involve?
A survey first, which is free. Room sizes, wall construction, window area and how the house is actually used decide the radiator sizing — not a rule of thumb, and not whatever was there before
Then a written fixed price covering the radiators, the pipework, the controls, the flush and making good. Floors come up and go back, and the job is left clean rather than left for a carpenter
On older Norfolk property — solid walls, lath and plaster, listed buildings — the route the pipework takes is half the work. That gets talked through before anything is lifted rather than discovered afterwards
What can you fit in-house?
Radiators, pipework, pumps, valves, zone controls, thermostats, underfloor manifolds and hot water cylinders — including unvented, under G3. This is the whole system apart from the appliance itself
Where a gas boiler forms part of the installation, that work is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, who certifies it under their own registration number
Can you work around an older house?
Yes, and most of the work here is older property. Victorian terraces in Thorpe Hamlet, flint cottages on the coast, postwar estates with microbore — each one has a different answer for where pipework can run
Listed buildings need more care and sometimes consent, and we will tell you when that is the case rather than quietly drilling through something that should not be drilled
